The women in the Central Anatolian village have worked on these designs – with great zeal. The challenge: Until then, they had only woven traditional kilims, which had no curves. KM’s designs are based on the technically determined horizontal orientation, but they also envisaged new, curved shapes. There is at least one such loom in every family’s hut. It is maintained and built according to instructions passed on from generation to generation.
The numbers on the edge indicate the wool colours. The size is determined by the width of the loom.
