At some point, every painter is tempted by the third dimension – and the adventure of designing in the spatial with new materials. KM first began with mobiles, then experimented with wood and concrete. Finally, steel, stainless steel and aluminium become his preferred materials. We encounter many figures from the “Assemblage” cycle, such as the deer and the butterfly, sometimes already folded. KM makes the folding and bending of familiar figures the alienating principle of his sculptures.
